Porter & Harding weave fabulous tweeds. Their Hartwist bunch is a classic hard-wearing twist tweed with a firm finish. Glenroyal is the ever popular Cheviot tweed with a softer finish – just on the lighter side of medium weight. Glorious Twelfth is a very fine merino suiting with elegant, fine checks, and the Thornproof bunch contains two weights of tweed, with a tightly set weave of twisted Cheviot yarn. All bunches are 100% wool and woven in Scotland

Here we are focusing on the Thornproof bunch, with a few examples of recently tailored suits in the 390 gram cloth. There are thirteen different patterns in this weight – seven of these have a classic Donegal style flecked weave, whilst the other six have fine overchecks. The rest of the bunch are all Donegal style, at the slightly heavier weight of 560 grams

The 390 gram cloth has the typical dry finish that you expect from a tweed, but at a weight that will keep you cool and comfortable
